&&& news Welcome to HoloMUCK. For more information on some of the changes and different things that go on on HoloMUCK, please read news often or check the bulletin board in the town hall. News is currently available on the following topics: Builders Muckers Server Info Version Economy Money ADDPENNIES Downtime Crashes Flags FluxMUCK &&& Builders Builders - Building is a someone different proposition on HoloMUCK than on other MUCKs. In order to maintain some kind of regularity and control standard in building, we will be requiring that new players get a public apartment and then describe both the apartment and its exits and then the player should link him/herself to that new apartment. In the lobby of the apartment building are directions on how to accomplish all of this. When done, simply ask any of Holo's Chancellors for a BUILDER bit and one will be granted. &&& Muckers Muckers - Muckers are by definition going to be fairly rare on Holo MUCK, but we certainly are not going to discourage anyone from becoming a MUCKER. In order to become one a player must ask for a temp MUCKER bit and then create a program that is of use to the general public on HoloMUCK within a reasonable amount of time. After that the player may then create his/her own programs providing they don't overstep traditional and other MUCKER laws. See 'Illegal'. &&& FluxMUCK FluxMUCK - During off hours and when things seem to be slow, i.e. when Quietus is not using his machine for more realistic things, I will be putting up the FluxMUCK database with my modified 2.2+ code at port 2112. This database is to be used to log things off of, not to build on! Nothing on the db should be touched except to make copies and nothing should be built as it will NOT be saved. &&& Flags Flags - Flags have been changed slightly on HoloMUCK. The following indicate all of the new or changed flags. A(UTOSTART) = For exits, start program on boot. Must also be set C(HANCELLOR) to work. C(HANCELLOR) = Takes place of W(IZARD) flag. O(BSERVE) = Monitor connects/disconnects. O(WNABLE) = Takes place of C(HOWN_OK) flag. M(ONITOR) = Wizard only. (Monitor dumps/setuids) U(NSEEN) = Wizard only. (Invisible to WHO list) V(ISUAL) = Makes people an objects examinable by everyone. N(OINVENTORY) = Same as MUSH's OPAQUE flag, suppresses inventory information on rooms and players. N(OISY) = Force exit to print both set and default = @osucc and @odrop messages &&& Version Version - We are currently running 2.2mb0.7 which is a custom altered version of 2.2.8.5d which has some improvements and bug fixes not found in earlier code and specifically designed to run without problems on a NeXT. &&& Crashes Crashes - We're hoping there won't be any more. &&& ADDPENNIES ADDPENNIES - Addpennies is being handled in a different way on HoloMUCK. It is not wiz only, but if you have a program that uses ADDPENNIES in it, any money given out will be deducted from your own money supply. &&& Money Money - Money will not be given out by wizards on HoloMUCK. In- stead there are more realistic ways of attaining it. For example, active players will receive weekly paychecks. There is a stock market that can be played to win money. Gambling is allowed in the casino and of course you can find it by walking around. And other players can give you some if they're rich or particularly generous. &&& Server Server - The server is still undergoing frequent modifications so HoloMUCK will be going down from time to time to implement any new changes that will make it better and more stable. These downtimes should last no more than 5 minutes. &&& Downtime Downtime - Currently we are not expecting any downtime, except for the summer. If the machine cannot be hooked up over the summer we have two options. One is to find a temporary site, which may indeed be possible. The other alternative is that we will be down until August, starting in May sometime. We hope that this will not happen, but please be forewarned and prepared for any eventuality. &&& Info Info - For different kinds of information there are offices set up around HoloMUCK in various places, and rooms contain- ing terminals can be logged into for other services such as mail. &&& Economy Economy - For details on how to get money and how it's going to be used on HoloMUCK, see news on ADDPENNIES and Money.
