This is a usage document for my partly-in-JavaScript pinochle game. It assumes you are familiar enough with the game that you could play a hand or two with physical cards; if not, you might want to read other documents to understand the basic game before trying to make sense of this document. When you start the game, you'll get a partial display and nothing more until a second player does likewise, at which point the two of you will be placed into a game. [Future work: some kind of lobby interface.] Dealer is random [future work: this needs to be stored somewhere for playing multiple hands across multiple sessions]. Cards are dealt. [Future work: implement an interface for dealer to cut the deal packet.] Each player can now optionally sort their hand. This is done by touch-dragging cards left and/or right in the hand. You can also "click" on cards to flag them, indicated by their being placed slightly higher than the rest of the hand. To unflag a card, just click on it again. If you have any cards flagged, you can swipe left or right on the playfield to collect those cards at the left or right of your hand. The player whose turn it is (as indicated by a message below the playfield) needs to play to the trick. This is done by clicking on the play area - the two-card-wide area in the middle of the playfield - when you have exactly one card flagged. This plays that card to the trick. After the first trick, the taker has a chance to meld. I haven't figured out what sort of interface I want to implement for melding. [Future work: figure something out!] After optionally melding, the trick taker has to draw. [Future work: implement this!]
